Quality and Safety

Microcenter Bahrain has the project goal of ZERO accidents and ZERO injuries, with work tasks designed to minimize or eliminate hazards to personnel, processes, equipment, and the general public. No staff should ever perform a task that may endanger their own safety and health or that of others. This SSSP outlines the Environment, Safety, and Health (ES&H) requirements and guidelines. These requirements are written to help protect site personnel and project monitoring unit from exposure to potential E S &H hazards on this job site. There are several plans and actions that are included to ensure that we act to protect the environment, the general public, as well as our workforce during the field work phase of this project. This plan shall be updated if there are major changes to project conditions, situations, or exposures, and those revisions shall be noted on the document. An employee acknowledgement form documents that each employee understands the SSSP and will implement these safety and health requirements on this job site

All work on this project will be carried out in compliance with MicroCenter Health and Safety Standards, and the Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response regulation. Specific health and safety information for the project is contained in this HASP. All personnel working on hazardous operations or in the area of hazardous operations shall read and be familiar with this HASP before doing any work. All project personnel shall sign the certification page acknowledging that they have read and understand this HASP. Changes in the scope of the project or introduction of new hazards to the project shall require revision of the HASP by the HASP writer and reviewer, and approval by the Project Manager.

Each person is responsible for completing tasks safely, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to their supervisor. No person may work in a manner that conflicts with these procedures. Prior to initiating site activities, all MicroCenter field and project crew personnel will receive training in accordance with applicable regulations, and be familiar with the requirements and standards referenced in this HASP. In addition, all personnel will attend daily safety meetings (tailgate meetings) to discuss site-specific hazards prior to beginning each day’s work.

The Field Health & Safety Handbook (FHSHB) is a MicroCenter document containing information about topic-specific health and safety requirements for the field. This handbook contains relevant general topics and is used as part of the overall HASP process. To aid in the consistency of the HASP process the handbook will be used as an informational source in conjunction with this HASP.

The following handbook sections are required reading for this project:
  • Health and Safety Administration
  • General H&S Rules and Safe Work Permits
  • General housekeeping, Personal Hygiene and Field Sanitation
  • Personal Safety and Other Unique Site Conditions
  • Heat and Cold Stress
  • Personal Protective Equipment

Covid-19 construction field safety guidelines

These field guidelines have been developed by the MicroCenter Bahrain in response to the need for project work at clients specified locations. These guidelines are not all encompassing and may need to be tailored to individual field sites and updated as the COVID-19 pandemic evolves. Implementation of these guidelines is within specific projects.

MicroCenter has prepared a Site-Specific Health and Safety Plan to address Covid-19-related issue and are strongly urged to adopt and implement the following measures as industry best practices under that safety plan and to null / minimize the risk of contracting and spreading COVID-19.

MicroCenter group being a highly responsible organization, would like to ensure the continued good health and safety of all our field crew on priority, and involves the circulation of precautionary information.

Common symptoms of COVID-19 Pandemic are, Fever, coughing and difficulty breathing, in severe cases, the virus is known to cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, severe effect on kidney and several other similar symptoms.

As step forward the field crew should take precautionary measures that are simple, and nonetheless very important:

  • Establish an assembly point for staff, before the start of work each day that complies with the recommended social distancing parameters.
  • Establish a daily screening protocol for arriving staff, to ensure that potentially infected staff do not enter the work site. If workers leave and re-enter the work site during the shift, re-screen individuals prior to re-entry into the work site.
  • Provide a daily tailgate session reviewing site protocols to mitigate potential spread of the virus. As information is changing continuously regarding COVID-19, these tailgates should occur daily and contractors should document attendance and require worker signatures.
  • Designate a Site Safety Rep (SSR) to monitor and implement all recommended safety practices regarding the COVID-19 virus with all field crew.
  • Regularly clean and sanitize trailers, toilets, and other enclosed spaces.
  • Social distancing must be maintained in all the places during the field work and within the field office.
  • Establish cleaning and/or hand washing stations within the work areas. They should be of sufficient quantity to allow staff to remain within the work areas without exiting into break areas. It is critical to adequately maintain these stations continuously.
  • Establish adequate time in the work day to allow for proper cleaning and decontamination including prior to leaving the job site for the day.
  • If a field crew feel sick, or have been exposed to anyone who is sick with COVID-19, stay at home. This affected staff may be required to provide COVID-19 test result showing a negative result (not infected with COVID-19) before being allowed to return to work. This is critical to preventing spread of the virus.
  • Wash hands frequently for at least 20 seconds with soap and water. Avoid touching your face with un-sanitized hands. Avoid touching common surfaces with bare hands.
  • Constantly observe your work distances in relation to other staff. Maintain the recommended minimum 6 feet separation from one another at all times feasible.
  • Do not shake hands or make other unnecessary direct contact with other staff.
  • Clean personal tools prior to use, as well as group tools.
  • Disposable paper towels and similar waste must be deposited in non-touch waste bins.
  • Do not cough or sneeze into your hand; rather, direct coughs and sneezes into a cloth or tissue or, if not available, the crook of your arm at your elbow; follow established guidelines.
  • Compulsorily wear a face mask/Face shield and Hand gloves at all times while in the office and on the field.
  • Go to the nearest medical health center if you experience any symptom
